Our Philosophy

We believe that music is a mirror for life, and the lessons learned in music (like listening, emotion, and space) are the same lessons needed for personal and spiritual growth. Our framework for teaching centers around what we call “The Art & Craft of Making Music”, and is inspired by the teachings of Victor Wooten’s book “The Music Lesson: A Spiritual Search For Growth Through Music”.

The Art of Making Music is:

Playing music for personal expression — where there is no right or wrong, only what is honest and felt.

The art of making music is the practice of turning your inner world into sound. It draws on your feelings, memories, and imagination to create something original and uniquely yours.

Art is how music becomes personal — a direct connection between your own experience and what you are playing.

The Craft of Making Music is:

Practicing music as a learned skill — built through repetition, patience, and precision.

The craft of making music is the study of technique, method, and musical language. It is how you learn to play an instrument, read notation, understand rhythm and harmony, and recreate the music others have created before you.

Craft gives you the tools that make expression possible.
